Tuesday, March 11, we visited the analysis of Shanghai (in China there are more than 30 laboratories in different cities) laboratory.

Intertek provides benefits analysis and laboratory testing including diagnostic services, quality control, research and development, study design and evaluation, and validation services for prototyping and testing product performance.

What the gentleman who made ​​the presentation explained was that each country has its own standards of safety / hygiene / food ... Intertek must analyze and test products for sale on the European markets taking into account the different standards. A product is thus tested several times.

Masks and suits protect all Intertek’s employees because gas emanating from the tests can be toxic. There are also many employees who analyze test data, they are not obliged to protect themselves with masks. They produce reports for clients who have requested analyzes of their products for sale in various countries around the world.

About customers, they use Intertek not for a single product punctually but they signed annual contracts with hundreds of products to be analyzed.

My view: I loved this tour even if I do not know the whole area of ​​the laboratory analysis. This allowed me to discover and see what similar machines analysis exist. They are like machines similer to the ones we see in the American TV shows like CSI.

In contrast, in the context of our research business we have not really seen the relationship between the laboratory and the customer contracts, how long does it take to analyze something. Or their amount and their exact quantities, it is more practical for us business students.

What surprised me is the fact that laboratories are not very clean, I was expecting to see rooms sparkling clean but in reality there were products that stuck to the ground, dust and so on.
