An Amazing Encounter with Chinese Tradition

Jade temple is one of the most famous place in Shanghai, in my opinion the trip was interesting since it gave us the possibility to get into close contact with a spiritual side of Chinese culture unknown to the most of us. After the visit at the Great hall where we saw the three golden Buddha we went to see the most well-known jade Buddha statues imported to Shanghai from Burma by sea. The most impressive of the two is the seated Buddha, 2 meters (6 feet 5 inches) tall, weighing 205 kg (452 lb) and decorated with semi-precious stones. The other statue is a serene and beautiful Reclining Buddha about 1 meter (3 feet 4 inches) long .Moreover what surprised the most was the grace and sinuosity of the jade Buddha and the astonishing holy atmosphere of the temple. we had the lucky chance to assist to the burning ceremony of the wishes and thanks to the professor’s explanations got a clearer view and perspective of what the monk life is in China.
