Alumni Reunion Day of School of Business Grandly Held

On Dec. 18, the 2011 Alumni Reunion Day of ECUST School of Business was grandly held. More than 600 MBA, EMBA, ME, postgraduate and undergraduate alumni came back to the school for reunion.
At 10:00am, A/Prof. Ma Ling, deputy dean of School of Business, announced the beginning of the alumni reunion day and hosted the school reunion conference.
Later, Prof. Wu Baijun, dean of School of Business, extended his warmest welcome and best wishes to all the alumni present. In addition, he gave a brief introduction to the achievements that the school had made over the last year in research, teaching, internationalization, etc. He also invited all the alumni to attend the 30th anniversary of the school to be celebrated in 2013.
Next, the school leaders presented the “2011 Alumni Contribution Award” to the alumni who offered great support to the school’s development over the past year, especially those who made great contributions to the AMBA accreditation of the school. Totally 41 alumni received the honor.
During the school reunion conference, Ms. Tai Qingwen, laboratory director of School of Business, released the E-learning Platform of on behalf of the school. The platform enables alumni, students and teachers to better share resources and to achieve mutual development through its functions like online courses, video conferences, e-library, professional forums, corporate training, online recruitment, etc.

As a major part of the alumni reunion day, the lecture entitled “2012 World and China Economic Outlook: economic recession and balanced growth” was given by Dr. Shen Gaoming, chief economist of Citigroup(GCG). During the lecture, Dr. Shen analyzed the macro-economic data of this year and predicted the economic development of the world and China in the following year. In the end, Dr, Shen answered questions from the audience with regard to the stock market, investment, development of small and medium enterprises, etc.
During the luncheon, A/Prof. Huang Lujin, deputy dean of School of Business, proposed a toast to all the alumni. She expressed her delight in seeing the growth and achievements of the alumni, thanked them for their support to the school and wished them a happy life and a successful career.
In the afternoon, two sub-forums were held – one on modern manufacturing industry, another on financial and real estate industries. The renowned professors in the field of operations and investment from the school discussed with the alumni about the development of China’s manufacturing, financial and real estate industries in 2012.
ECUST School of Business has been insisting on nurturing visionary and innovative business management personnel since it started to enroll undergraduates in 1983 and postgraduates in 1991. The school has educated over 10, 000 students in its history of nearly 30 years. The Homecoming Day, which is held once a year as one of the alumni series activities of the school, aims at building a platform for the alumni to share resources and at promoting the common development of the school and its alumni.
